August 19, 2005FEDERAL ENERGY BILL TOPS PROGRAM FOR BIOFUELS WORKSHOP & TRADE SHOW IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SALIDA, CO, August 19, 2005 - The long awaited Energy Policy Act of 2005 will establish a nationwide renewable fuels standard (RFS) provision that will close to double the use of ethanol and biodiesel to 7.5 billion gallons per year by 2012. This monumental legislation will be a focal point for discussions at the Biofuels Workshop & Trade Show-Eastern Region to be held in Atlanta, October 10-12, this year.
The RFS is the result of several years of negotiations between the ethanol and biodiesel industries, oil industry, federal government, state interests, environmentalists, agriculture and consumers. The increased use of renewable fuels will expand U.S. fuel supplies, increasing energy security and boosting economic development.
Key representatives and stakeholders within the biofuels industry will discuss the impacts of the RFS on ethanol and biodiesel production and use. Government officials from the U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture will share information on new programs established for research and
development of biofuels production.
The Biofuels Workshop & Trade Show will set the stage for building an industry in the Eastern Region. In addition to a national overview,
presentations will address opportunities and challenges for industry development in the Northeast and Southeast. Topics will include feedstock availability, production technology, product markets, points to consider when building a biofuels facility and many other regional-level issues and topics.
The trade show will feature over 40 companies displaying the latest in technologies, services, and products for the biofuels industry.
The event is hosted by BBI International with support from U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Northeast Regional Biomass Energy Program, Southeast Regional Biomass Energy Program’ and the Regional Economic Development District Initiatives (REDDI).
