December 12, 2003Biofuels companies to build second biodiesel facility near Phoenix BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. (Dec. 11) -- American Biofuels LLC and Green Star Products Inc. will build their second biodiesel facility near Phoenix, the companies announced Dec. 11.
The facility will have the capacity to produce 10 million to 15 million gallons of biodiesel fuel annually. The companies plan to begin construction by the end of the year, pending community approval and the necessary permits. Green Star Products owns 35 percent of American Biofuels.
After a two-year search for a site, the companies settled on the Phoenix area because it is a strong center for biodiesel use. Several Phoenix fleet operators, including school districts and cities, have logged millions of miles running on biodiesel fuel, said Joseph LaStella, director of American Biofuels and president of Green Star Products.
