October 29, 2003President Bush to visit Ohio on Thursday WASHINGTON -- President Bush will be in Ohio on Thursday promoting the energy bill pending in congress. Bush will visit an Ohio aluminum company that has been hurt by the rising cost of natural gas.
The president will use Columbus-based Central Aluminum as an example of why the energy bill should become law. Central Aluminum uses a lot of natural gas making foundries and aluminum products. The massive energy bill passed the house and senate earlier this year, but an impasse over ethanol taxes could scuttle it.
Senator George Voinovich is pushing to get the ethanol tax change included in the bill. The Ohio republican says states such as Ohio that have a large percentage of ethanol users end up losing millions of dollars.
Bush will also attend a fund-raiser hosted by Governor Taft. The visit is Bush's 13th to Ohio as President.
