September 11, 2003Good weather helps ethanol plant construction THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
HANLONTOWN, Iowa - Construction crews continue working on a $60 million ethanol plant near Hanlontown that is scheduled to be finished next July.
The warm, dry weather has speeded up the work, said Kenyon Gleason, spokesman for Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, which is building the plant.
''We're finishing the silo. It's about 90 feet high now and will actually be a little higher than that when we get it done. We're also drilling wells, working on the distillation and evaporation sections and pouring concrete.''
The plant will employ 35 people and use about 16 million bushels of corn to produce 45 million gallons of ethanol annually. It will also produce 135,000 tons of dried distillers grain, an ethanol by-product, Gleason said.
