June 25, 2003Corn Growers, Ethanol Leaders Discuss Cooperation Representatives of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) took advantage of record high attendance at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Trade Show last week in Sioux Falls, S.D., to meet with other leaders in the ethanol industry on behalf of corn growers nationwide.
NCGA President-Elect Dee Vaughan of Dumas, Texas, chaired a session on New Hybrid Corn: Comparison and Evaluation of Ethanol Yields, Cooking and By-products. In the session, Vaughan led a discussion and presentations on the many aspects of corn hybrids specifically developed for dry grind ethanol production.
NCGA Director of Business Development/Corn Processing Research Rene Shunk and Manager of Livestock Information and Programs Tracy Snider represented NCGA at the workshop and trade show, featuring approximately 140 exhibitors and a conference program with several tracks including biorefining, emissions and environmental requirements, plant management and operations and improving product yields.
"We had several informal meetings with companies about the possibilities of working together on various research collaborations," said Shunk.
