November 19, 2001Husker Ag, LLC, Breaks Ground in Plainview, Nebraska Just two months after Husker Ag, LLC began its equity drive, about 75 people gathered near Plainview, Nebraska Friday to break ground on the 20 mmgy dry-mill ethanol plant.
Everyone involved with the planning of the project, which began in 1999, grabbed a hold of a rope tied to an old–fashioned hand plow. Together, the group broke ground on the new ethanol plant by plowing the first furrow. Those in attendance included two state senators, former senator Loren Schmidt, as well as Steve Sorum, Nebraska Ethanol Board.
Design/builders ICM, of Colwich, Kan., and Fagen Inc., of Granite Falls, Minn., have been selected to do the ethanol plant process design and construction work. Primary ownership is Husker Ag Cooperative, Corn-Er Stone Cooperative, Sapp Bros. and Fagen Inc. The facility is scheduled to begin production in the fall of 2002.
The Husker Ag, LLC project began about two years ago when BBI International, a Colorado-based consulting firm completed a feasibility study for the project organizers.
“We wish Husker Ag, LLC great success,” said BBI International President Mike Bryan. “We are pleased to have been a part of this project from the very beginning.”
