The International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Trade Show is the largest fuel ethanol industry event in the world. Next year will be the 20th anniversary of the Fuel Ethanol Workshop (FEW). We are expecting over 1,300 to help celebrate this important industry milestone!

The purpose of the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Trade Show is to present and exchange information that will aid ethanol producers in their efforts to improve production and plant operations. The goal is for ethanol producers, current and future, to learn new methods that will increase the profitability and efficiency. A committee of ethanol producers develops the FEW Agenda. The committee’s role is to ensure that the content of the conference meets the needs and interests of the industry.

We are requesting presentation abstracts from individuals and organizations with a strong focus on commercial-scale ethanol production practices, technological advancements and near-term research and development. Abstracts submitted will be considered for presentations in the technical breakout workshop sessions, general sessions and pre-workshop seminars.

The deadline to submit presentation abstracts is December 31, 2003.  Links to the downloadable "Abstract Submittal Form" are at the top left and bottom of this page.

The guidelines are also listed below for your convenience.  Prior to submitting an Abstract, please read through the following information.

Presentation Guidelines

Presentations will be selected for oral presentation only. There will not be a poster session. Individuals who are selected to give presentations must agree to the following requirements. If an individual is not able or willing to comply with these requirements, please refrain from submitting the abstract for consideration.

  • The presentation must be completed in advance for inclusion in the conference CD for distribution on-site (submission deadline: May 1, 2004).

  • The presenter must be willing to repeat the presentation during back-to-back sessions should the topic be selected for the technical breakout workshops.

  • Presentation length is typically 15-20 minutes with Q&A at the end.

  • PowerPoint Slides will be the preferred medium for on-site presentation.

  • If two or more persons are jointly presenting, only one presenter receives a complimentary registration.

  • Presentations are to be informative and objective, not an advertisement. Presenters utilizing this opportunity to simply market their products and services will not be asked to speak at future conferences.

  • All presentations will be reviewed by a committee of ethanol producers and industry experts. This committee will then select those deemed most valuable to the program.

Presentation Abstract and Biographical Information

To submit an Abstract for a Presentation at the 2004 FEW, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Complete the “Request for Abstract” Form (see links in red below to download the instructions and form).

  2. Submit an Abstract, maximum length, one page. The abstract must address the application and significance of the subject matter to the ethanol industry. If interested in suggesting more than one presentation topic, a separate abstract must be submitted for each. If the presentation will be made by other than the person submitting the presentation topic (on submittal form), then this should be clearly noted on the abstract. The presenter should include his/her full name, title and organization along with complete contact information.

  3. Submit a biography, maximum length, two paragraphs. The biography should include the presenter’s expertise and contributions relevant to the ethanol industry.

Note: Brief and clearly-written information about your presentation and affiliation to the ethanol industry is extremely helpful to the reviewers.

Submissions will be scored on commercial viability and applicability to the existing and future ethanol industry; significance to ethanol production and plant operations (improving efficiency, reducing costs, minimizing emissions, increasing product value, etc.); experience of presenter in the ethanol industry; and overall relevance in the eyes of the selection committee. You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your submission by email.
