Wisconsin (1999 EWS)

The 1999 Workshop helped shape legislation, so the 2000 Workshop focused on a review of the developing industry in the state, on financing options, and on how to help along the projects that are on the drawing board (3-4 grain ethanol projects, one whey and one seed corn). The state incentive that passed following the 1999 Workshop is a 20¢ direct-to-the-producers payment. (More details on the legislation can be found at www.bbiethanol.com. Click on "Ethanol Info.") The question isn't "Will there be ethanol production in Wisconsin," rather "Who will be the first of several plants to begin construction." An economic impact study for the Monroe area has been completed and is being used to help educate legislators.
