Colorado (2000 EWS)

Colorado has long been recognized as the Grandfather of the successful Carbon Monoxide Reduction Program. At a recent Working Group meeting in Denver, it was recognized that ethanol's new focus in the state would be economic development in rural areas. They felt there was a shortage of information available. Some action items identified were to have an economic impact study done that will use current, proven information and to set up a speakers' bureau volunteering speakers for local and regional organizations such as Rotary and Lions Clubs. The assignment was given to each participant to develop for the March meeting a "12-month plan" of what could be accomplished yet this year. At the April meeting, rural legislators will be invited for lunch and discussions about the ethanol vision.
