February 13, 2004John Crane Announces Power Generation Sealing Technology Advancements Seminar John Crane – a leading supplier of engineered sealing systems and associated products – has announced the dates for the John Crane Academy seminar “Get Connected to Power Generation Sealing Technology Advancements.”
Founded in the early 1980s, the John Crane Academy is a unique industry resource responsible for the training and education of thousands of maintenance mechanics, rotating equipment engineers and related professionals. This seminar is designed for maintenance mechanics and supervisors, plant and reliability engineers, EPC firm personnel, contractors, rotating equipment OEMs and others involved with the selection, installation, support, maintenance and repair of seals and related support systems in power plants.
Led by John Crane’s leading experts in this market -- Tom Nowak, Regional Engineer; Pearley Lachance, Alliance Engineer; and Tom Evans, Power Generation Market Manager -- this seminar covers applications and services found in fossil fuel plants, nuclear plants, as well as other generating stations. Topics addressed include:
· Seals and Support Systems Up-Close – Learn the fundamentals of mechanical seals, the design features and operating parameters, as well as the various methods and technologies of sealing support systems for enhanced seal performance and longevity.
· Short Course on Power Generation Sealing and Technology – An examination of design features, construction materials, operating parameters and sealing support systems for specific power plant applications such as boiler feedwater pumps, hot condensate systems, FGD services and others.
· When Good Seals Go Bad – Learn how to apply troubleshooting techniques to seal failures to improve Mean Time Between Repair (MTBR).
· The Science of Seal Repair – Maintaining the integrity of seal components and materials is critical to proper sealing. Discover the step-by-step process that experts use in repairing and rebuilding seals.
Presented by power industry sealing experts from John Crane, Inc., the day-long seminar will be held four times this year on March 16 in Chicago, June 15 in Atlanta, Sept. 21 in Los Angeles and Nov. 16 in Philadelphia. Cost to attend is $150, which includes lunch, seminar material with handouts, selection guidelines and solutions for power plant applications and services.
