January 16, 2004Ethanol meeting tonight ADRIAN -- The official announcement of a meeting calling for investors in the proposed Great Lakes Ethanol LLC ethanol processing facility will take place at 7 p.m. tonight at the Christian Family Centre, 1800 W. U.S. 223.
The date of the meeting and the name of the meeting place were listed incorrectly in Wednesday's edition of The Daily Telegram.
Dates for the other informational meetings to take place in the area remain unchanged:
-- 1 p.m. Friday: Pioneer Day, Fletcher Road, Manchester; hosted by Denny Huehl.
-- 9 a.m. Saturday: Dover Township Hall, 2576 W. Carlton Road, Clayton; hosted by Connie Rathburn.
-- 10 a.m. Monday: Palmyra Township Hall, 4276 Main St., Palmyra; hosted by Ken Mitchell.
-- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26: Schettenhelm's Inc., 12000 Stony Creek Road, Milan; hosted by Larry Roome.
Plans call for the construction of a facility that would have the capacity to process up to 50 million gallons of ethanol annually from up to 17 million bushels of corn, which will be a boon to the local agricultural economy.
Cost of construction is expected to be about $70 million, and GLE directors are seeking local investors to get the project off the ground.
GLE chairman Ray Griffin said negotiations are continuing with property owners to secure the approximately 80 acres of land necessary for the plant's operation and any future expansion.
