October 7, 2003Training started for ethanol workers Wisconsin's first comprehensive training course to provide skilled workers for the state's growing ethanol industry is being held at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville.
The training is in line with Gov. Jim Doyle's "Grow Wisconsin" plan, which calls for increasing energy from renewable sources and investing in people.
"Wisconsin is rapidly becoming a leader in ethanol production," Doyle said. "An abundant supply of talented, highly skilled, highly motivated workers is key to growing this important industry and the state's economy."
Just this week, Ace Ethanol of Stanley announced plans for a $20 million expansion of its ethanol plant that would double the facility's size and add extra emission-controlling equipment.
Development of the training program was funded in part by the state Department of Administration, Division of Energy, and the State Energy Program through an Agri-Energy Production Grant.
