July 24, 2003U.S. ETHANOL INDUSTRY PRODUCES ALL-TIME MONTHLY RECORD IN JUNE WASHINGTON, DC - The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) has announced that the U.S. ethanol industry set an all-time monthly production record in June of 181,000 barrels per day (b/d), according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The previous all-time record was 179,000 b/d in April. Production was up 47 percent compared to last June when 123,000 b/d of ethanol were produced.
“The rapidly rising demand for grain created by the Nation’s fastest growing energy resource - ethanol - is providing a real economic stimulus at a time when it is desperately needed in rural America,” said Bob Dinneen, RFA president.
The ethanol industry is expected to produce more than 2.7 billion gallons in 2003, up from a record annual production of 2.13 billion gallons in 2002. Currently, 73 ethanol plants have the capacity to produce over 2.9 billion gallons annually. Thirteen ethanol plants are under construction.
