April 1, 2003Nampa is first to use biodiesel fuel Nampa will be the first city in Idaho to use biodiesel (B20) to fuel some of its vehicles through a cooperative effort with the Idaho Department of Water Resources´ Energy Division.
The city will start fueling 24 of its diesel-powered vehicles with B20 at 3 p.m. today when Mayor Tom Dale will fill the first city vehicle tank at the United Oil bulk plant at 1st Street South and 7th Avenue South in Nampa.
Biodiesel reduces particulates in diesel exhaust. Cities in Canyon County are deciding whether to take part in a county-proposed emissions-testing program aimed at reducing air pollution in the area.
