Ethanol production in the United States is on the rise. For the second straight month, ethanol production was higher than petroleum-based MTBE. The Energy Information Administration said ethanol production during February was at 169,000 barrels per day, compared to 167,000 barrels per day of MTBE.
The Renewable Fuels Association, which supports more production of ethanol, says the increase will continue, with the ethanol industry expected to produce more than 2.6 billion gallons this year.
