July 30, 2001Archer Daniels Midland Company Announces Expanded Ethanol Capacity With the completion of several projects at its corn refining plants, Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) will have by the fourth quarter of 2001 the capacity to annually supply up to 950 million gallons of fuel ethanol. These projects enable the Company additional flexibility in shifting production between ethanol and other starch-based products including sweeteners and lysine to meet market demands and improve shareholder returns. Plans are under consideration for similar projects in the coming year.
U.S. ethanol group pledges to meet Calif. demand
U.S. transportation companies and the ethanol industry on Thursday said an ample number of railcars and ships were available to deliver supplies of ethanol to meet an anticipated surge in demand in California.
"Transportation and terminal industry experts have studied the issue of moving ethanol from the Midwest to California and report 'all systems are go'," said Bob Dinneen, president of Renewable Fuels Association.
Last month, Bush administration officials expressed their concerns about California's ability to transport enough corn-based ethanol to meet the state's needs, anticipated at 580 million gallons per year starting in 2003.
