June 26, 2001Thailand, Austria study joint ethanol plant project Thailand said on Friday it had agreed with Austria to jointly study a project in which foreign firms would build an ethanol plant in Thailand and receive payment in the form of agricultural products over 10 years.
Thai government spokesman Yongyuth Tiyapairat told reporters the agreement was reached during a meeting on Friday between Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Austrian trade representatives.
The study on the plant, which would have a combined production capacity of 1.5 million litres of ethanol per day, would take two months to complete, Yongyuth said.
