June 6, 2001Vaughn Ends Tenure as Longest Serving RFA President The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) today announced that Eric Vaughn, president of the trade group for the last 16 years, would be
stepping aside effective June 5, 2001. In a letter to RFA chairman Ron Miller, Vaughn noted that the rigors of running a national trade
organization have prevented him from pursuing other exciting opportunities and stated: "When I look back on my career I want to know that I have
seized all of life's possibilities, and that I did not let a single career choice define me."
"During Vaughn's tenure the ethanol industry grew from an infant into a true player in the energy field," said Ron Miller, RFA board chairman and
President of Williams Bio-Energy. "While much of the credit goes to the hard work of farmers and renewable fuel entrepreneurs, the fact of the
matter remains that the ethanol industry wouldn't be where it is today without the leadership and dedication of Eric Vaughn. The ethanol industry
stands ready to enter its largest and quickest period of growth based on the foundation Eric helped lay. We are deeply grateful for his contribution to the ethanol industry. On behalf of all RFA members, I want to wish Eric great success in his next endeavor."
Bob Dinneen, Vice President of the RFA, has been designated to lead the organization while the board conducts a search for a replacement. The
search is expected to take three to four months.
"It's been a true pleasure to work with Eric for the last 14 years," said Dinneen. "Too often in Washington the temptation is to be distracted by
politics or personalities, but Eric always put the ethanol industry first. The ethanol industry enjoys strong support on Capitol Hill largely because of Eric's hard work and dedication. Eric leaves behind a rock solid foundation for continued growth."
