Wisconsin (1999 EWS)

Wisconsin held their second workshop, "An Ethanol Production Plant: A Doorway of Opportunity in Wisconsin" on September 25th in Madison to follow up with their successes from their first workshop in 1999. The workshop in 1999 helped spur the passing of an ethanol producer incentive. This year's workshop focused on the developing ethanol plant projects, including a proposed large-scale ethanol plant in Monroe, Wisconsin. Jeff knight, Wisconsin Department of Administration, greeted the attendees on behalf of the Governor. Joe Tregoning, Deputy Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, expressed his department's strong support for ethanol. Don Wichert from DOA's Energy Bureau, mentioned that there are 3 plants on the drawing board using three different feedstocks: whey, potato/seed corn, and paper mill sludge.
