Ethanol
Workshop Series News
- July 2000
A Newsletter about the DOE/RBEP Ethanol Workshop
Series (EWS) activities
==============================================
The
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)/Regional Biomass Energy
Program (RBEP) Ethanol Workshop Series (EWS), sponsored
by the U.S. DOE Office of Fuels Development (OFD),
is in its second year. The EWS News is an electronic
newsletter that serves as a tool to keep planning
committee members and supporters abreast of activities
occurring in participating EWS states. The EWS is
a groundbreaking grassroots program to inspire interest
in near-term ethanol production from cellulosic biomass
materials.
1999
was the first year of the EWS. Workshops were held
in Alabama, Alaska, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi,
South Dakota and Wisconsin. The 2000 EWS includes
Colorado, Indiana, New York, Ohio, Oregon/Washington,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas. The 2000
EWS state Workshop agendas and 1999 state follow up
workshop agendas will be posted at www.bbiethanol.com
and, individually, on most state bioenergy websites.
States
that participated in the first series of ethanol workshops
have the opportunity to build upon their success through
additional funding for follow up activities. 1999
EWS states may submit proposals of up to $5,000 to
their respective RBEP Managers. All proposed follow
up activities must be completed in this fiscal year,
which ends September 30th Your proposed activities
may include a second ethanol workshop, development
of educational materials, resource assessment or feasibility
study, or special meetings with stakeholders. Your
RBEP manager can assist you with the guidelines.
Anyone
who would like to receive the EWS News in hard copy
form rather than electronic, please contact Angela
Graf at adamman@bbibiofuels.com
and we'll place you on the hard copy mailing list.
