Mississippi (1999 EWS)

Mississippi is using the existing Mississippi Biomass Council as its vehicle to continue its efforts to develop an ethanol industry in the state. The plan is to hold a series of smaller roundtable discussions. Key individuals from both the public and private sectors will be invited to garner a clear sense of the needs and opportunities for the development of an ethanol industry. Through the roundtable discussions, a strategic plan will be formulated. A date hasn't yet been set, but a large conference is also on the agenda for this year. A database on feedstocks has also been established through Alcorn University. Funds are being sought for a study that will focus specifically on cotton and wood wastes.
