Alabama (1999 EWS)

Following the Alabama workshop in September of 1999, a Biomass Exchange Directory was developed for the Internet. The Biomass Exchange's site is www.biomass.state.al.us/. It currently is dedicated to producers and consumers of waste wood, but will eventually be a resource for locating virtually all feedstocks. Using this directory, many of the siting factors for a biomass power plant or ethanol plant could easily and effectively be determined. The goal of the Renewable Fuels Program is to make Alabama less dependent on energy derived from fossil fuels and reduce environmental waste while making Alabama products less expensive and more competitive in the larger market. This has been a joint effort between ADECA-STE, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama Forestry Association, U. S. Department of Energy's Southeastern Regional Biomass Energy Program and the Southern States Energy Board. It is a unique and useful site. Be sure to check it out.
